Jordan Stevenson founded Buildx in 2019, initially as a construction and renovation company. Stevenson changed the direction of the company from renovation to tiny home construction in 2021 with a new mission “To provide adaptable and affordable housing for all.”
Stevenson’s passion to provide affordable ADU (Additional Dwelling Unit) options began after a project to turn a shipping container into affordable housing was shut down by red tape put in place by the building department and municipal by-laws. Stevenson’s frustration continued to grow as ADU’s, and tiny home prices began to skyrocket during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mid 2022, Stevenson decided to put together a team to focus solely on finding affordable solutions to the ever-growing unaffordability crisis – their solution – the Clix Modular Building System. With prices starting at just $40,000 CAD, Clix is a panelized modular system that’s taking affordable housing to new heights. Clix is currently in the conceptual stages, but we plan to begin prototyping in 2023. Our goal is to improve access to community housing and achieve housing stability throughout Canada and internationally. We see a future of modern modular systems designed with cutting-edge materials and technology.
“To provide adaptable and affordable housing for all.”
Our mission is simple – we’re changing the landscape of adaptable, affordable housing and building a future no one thought possible! We’re in the middle of a housing crisis, with over 230,000 Canadian homeless on the streets in 2021 alone. Clix is an affordable ADU/ARU unit that can be shipped anywhere and added to your property as either a primary or secondary residence. No need to move as your family grows – Clix will grow with you!
“Affordable housing. Community. Accessible Technology.”
With prices starting under $60,000, we are taking affordable housing to new heights. We see a future of modern modular systems designed with cutting-edge materials and technology. We aim to improve access to community housing and achieve housing stability throughout Canada.
We believe that strength lies in communities. That’s why we are committed to partnering with local businesses and non-profit organizations, helping make our community an even better place!
Buildx is proud to announce that we’ve partnered with Pledge 1%. By doing so, we have dedicated 1% of our revenue to charities and giving back to our local community. All community projects & donations will be posted on our website soon!
Our manufacturing center consists of a 10-plot community R&D facility. As part of our community efforts, we’ve partnered with the Green Wood Coalition to place a family in need in each of our 10 R&D Clix units. Not only will this allow us to receive direct feedback from those who live there to improve our product, but it will also give a family in need a home.
Dogs at Work Campaign
Here at Buildx, we LOVE dogs! Our partnership with the Northumberland Humane Society started after owner/founder Jordan Stevenson saw the story of one shelter pup named Buddy. Buddy had spent an estimated half of his life in shelters and had been to multiple adoption events without the success of finding him a new home.
Buddy’s story influenced Jordan to reach out to the Northumberland Humane Society to see what he could do to help improve the lives of these shelter pups; thus, we created the Dogs at Work Program.
We now collaborate with the NHS to have homeless dogs become a part of our office space a couple of days a week to improve their socialization, provide mental stimulation, and exercise.
